By Mala Yachts -January 23, 2023

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has built new bridges connecting Silicon Oasis and Academic city. The two 120-meter bridges are part of the Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan street improvement project. Furthermore, it goes 3 kilometers from where the Dubai-Al Ain Road meets the Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan street to the Academic City roundabout.

The bridges can handle 14,400 cars per hour with four lanes in each direction. Therefore, traffic moves smoothly along Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street.

RTA’s Master Plan

The project helps the people who live in Dubai Silicon Oasis as it has over 25 universities and colleges with a total of 27,500 students and nearby development projects.

Mattar Al Tayer, the Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the (RTA), says; the project gets started because Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, wants to keep up with the city’s growth.

He added, “The project is part of RTA’s master plan to improve roads, bridges, crossings, and tunnels. Moreover, it handles more traffic and makes getting around the emirate easier.” “It’s also in line with RTA’s long-term plan to improve Dubai’s roads and public transportation networks.”

RTA has been working on solutions for roads and waterways to match development plans and population growth. Moreover, the focus is to help the emirate grow and attract investment.

 Street Improvement Project

As part of the project, the entrances and exits of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street get better by linking it to the Dubai-Al Ain Road intersection. The street also gets wider, with four lanes in each direction. Furthermore, two 120-meter bridges at the point meet the Dubai Silicon Oasis.

Under the two bridges, a signal intersection with 20 lanes in all directions. Furthermore, it has room for 8,000 cars per hour. It will make sure traffic flows smoothly to Dubai Silicon Oasis and Zayed University. Traffic at the Academic City roundabout and highway street lighting improved with the project.

Al Tayer says it is part of RTA work to improve roads of Sheikh Zayed Street from Dubai-Al Ain Road to the existing roundabout on Al Yalayes Street. This work starts with the widening of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. It has four lanes in each direction over a 25-kilometre stretch.

Nearest Entrance to Global Village

A flyover builds at the Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street intersection and Latifa Bint Hamdan Road. It is near the entrance to the Global Village and controls the traffic coming from Emirate Road. A signal at a roundabout build at the intersection with Al Qudra Road. Moreover, a signal at the surface junction builds with Hessa Road. “Thus, traffic solutions that have been put in place are only temporary. In the future, a variety of permanent traffic solutions will get included,” said Al Tayer.
