Hatta is Getting Cable Cars, Waterfalls, and New Hiking Trails

By Mala Yachts -March 3, 2023

One of our favorite places for adventure in the UAE is Hatta, and it keeps getting better. The first time the Hatta Master Development plan was shown to the public was in October 2021, when 14 projects and initiatives were already in place. Now, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced a second phase that will start this year.

After phase one of the Hatta Master Development plan was a huge success, phase two will bring Hatta many new projects and repairs.

Getting Wadi Lim Lake Back in Shape

In the next phase of building, Wadi Lim Lake will be fixed up. Tourists, travelers, and locals will all be able to use seasonal kiosks, food carts, facilities, walkways, and rest areas that are all meant to encourage investment and tourism in the area.

A New Place to Live and Walking Paths

As part of the development, a new model for a residential neighborhood is being made, and 100 more national houses are also being built. Adventurers and people who like being outside will be happy to hear that there will be hiking trails in some mountainous areas of Hatta. This will make it easier to have fun and play sports.

Making it Easier for Hatta Heritage and Cycling

People will also work to show off the town’s rich culture and history by improving sites like the Hatta tombs and the Falaj Al Shari’a that are on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The Bronze and Iron Ages are when some of these sites were built. Along with the first 11.5 km cycling path, a new path will be built to connect important sites in the area. Plans for traffic management and landscaping are still being worked out.

Going after Waterfalls

Back in 2021, it was said that there would be a cable car system and a sustainable man-made waterfall system. Both of these have now been approved in phase two. The cable car route will go through the mountains and over Hatta Dam Lake and Upper Dam Lake. It will be called “The Dubai Summit,” and it will end at the top of Um Al Nesoor mountain. It is 1300m above sea level, making it Dubai’s highest peak. Along the way, there will be three major stops, and the station will be above the Hatta Dam. It will also connect to the parking lot.

The slope of the upper dam will be used to make a natural waterfall for the man-made waterfall. Also, there will be a waterway built along the parking area of the dam that will have places to play and cafes. The water that will be used in the feature will be collected, reused, and then pumped back up to the top of the dam.
