All You Know about the Maritime Heritage Festivals in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi’s Maritime Heritage Festival will be held at Abu Dhabi Corniche, A’l Bahar. So, from Friday, February 17 to Sunday, February 26. This is the second time the festival has been held. Therefore, get ready to explore a traditional maritime village that recreates a coastal trading community with a fun mix of crafts, souqs, stories, performances, demonstrations, and traditional food.
Through the fish auction, artisanal workshops, Emirati foods, and traditional performances, the festival will retrace the steps of people who used to live in time with Abu Dhabi’s tides. Tickets are priced at
- Dhs30 for adults
- Dhs15 for children aged between 5 and 12 years old
- Children under five free.
What to do on Maritime Heritage Festival?
There are different communities at the festival. In the Trading Village, visitors can learn about textiles, embroidery, and traditional crafts. Similarly, in the Fishing Village, you can watch a reenactment of an auction every day. Additionally, eat fish cooked by skilled local chefs.
Get involved in traditional game tournaments such as Al Khish Khash Yeteeh and Al Karabi at the Games Arena. Adding on, enjoy a beachside picnic in AlSeefah while cheering on the rowing teams as they compete for the trophy.
At children’s workshops, the whole family can take part in activities like telling stories, building dhows, and making percussion instruments. Plus, don’t miss the chance to see incredible traditional performing arts from mesmerising sea chants to a nightly immersive show of music, poetry, and movement.
